Pre Screening for Phase 3 Lp (a) Clinical Trial
Newly released cardiology guidelines* recommend all adults get screened.
- 1 in 5 people worldwide have high Lipoprotein(a), also referred to as high Lp(a)
- 95% have not been screened
- Most people with high Lp(a) don't know their level
High Lp(a) is a Triple Threat
- Plaque buildup - Lp(a) contributes to plaque buildup in the arteries
- Inflammation - Lp(a) promotes inflammation that can damage blood vessels
- Clot formation - Lp(a) increases the likelihood of blood clots that can lead to heart attack or stroke
Why High Lp(a) Matters
- High Lp(a) is an independent risk factor that increases the risk of early cardiovascular disease, including heart attack and stroke
Treatment Approaches
- While there are currently no medications specifically approved to lower Lp(a), managing LDL cholesterol and other cardiovascular risk factors can reduce overall cardiovascular disease risk. New medications are being developed.

Prescreening Requirements
Must check at least 4 of the following:
Men and Women 18+ years of age
High Blood Pressure
Type 2 Diabetes
High Cholesterol
Family History of Heart Disease
Have had personal history of past heart attack or stroke
Told that they are at risk for a heart attack or stroke by their provider
*Note that if you meet the criteria and enroll in the study the study will be 5+ years in length and patients will have a 50% chance of receiving the placebo.
